How to Make a YouTube Playlist on Desktop

Making playlists on YouTube is very easy, whether you’re doing it on a laptop or on your smartphone. In this paragraph, we’re about to explain how to make a YouTube playlist on desktop.

If you are watching a video, but for some reason you have to stop there, make sure to save the video to a playlist, so you can watch it later. Doing so is very easy. In fact, you only have to click on the “Save” button underneath the video.

After clicking there, a list of all your playlists will open up. Right now, you’ll be able to select the right playlist to save your video tp. You will also be able to create a new playlist, if needed.

This procedure works when you have to save a video that you’ve already been watching. However, we all know that YouTube gives video suggestions on the right side of the screen the entire time. What if you’ve been watching a video, but notice that you’d love to watch some of the videos suggested by YouTube?

Well, don’t worry. You’ll be able to save them all to your playlists, even without opening them!

In fact, all you have to do is click on those small dots on the top right corner of the video suggestion (see image below) and select “Save to playlist”.

At this point, you’ll be able to select the playlist you want to save the video to and watch it back anytime!

Obviously, to watch back all those videos grouped into playlists you must know how to find all your playlists.

Don’t you worry, this is very easy! Simply click on the top left corner of your screen (the three-lines-symbol next to YouTube’s logo). A menu bar will appear on screen, and your playlists will all be there!

How to Make a YouTube Playlist on Mobile

We’ve already seen how to make a YouTube playlist on the desktop. Now, what if we want to do the same thing on a smartphone?  The procedure is pretty much the same, or even simpler if possible. Let’s go through all the steps to find out how to make a YouTube playlist on mobile.

First of all, we have to find a video that’s interesting enough to save to one of our playlists. Let’s assume that we’ve been watching it. Underneath the video we can spot a few different buttons. Specifically, we can give a like to the video, a dislike, we can share the video, download it (only on Google Premium) and, last but not least, save it. Let’s tap on the “Save” button.

Once we hit “Save”, the button will display the text “Saved”. On the button of your screen you’ll read “Saved to Recent Playlist (name of the playlist)”. This means that you’ll be able to find the video to the playlist that you most recently edited. If you’re not ok with that, because you’d like to have the video into another playlist, tap “Change”.

At this point, you’ll be able to pick the perfect location for your video among all the playlists that you have created already. Alternatively, you can always create a new playlist to save the video to.

We’ve just seen how to make a YouTube playlist on the mobile. However, one last step is missing. How do we find all our playlists on a smartphone? Simple, just click on the button “Library” on the button at the right corner of your phone’s screen. All your playlist will be listed there and you’ll find all your saved videos!

How to Share YouTube Playlist

Now that we know how to create YouTube playlists, it is time to find out how to share them with friends. It is possible to share a YouTube playlist, whether you’re on a laptop or a smartphone.

All you need to do is copy the URL from your browser and share it to your friends as a link.

On their official website, Google highlights a few interesting points to make sure that you’re sharing the right link. In fact, they suggest you to “look for ‘playlist’ in the URL to make sure you’re sharing a playlist and not simply a video within a playlist.” An example of this is: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=<playlist ID>.

Note by Google: If videos aren’t appearing in an embedded playlist, the uploader may have turned off the embed option for some of the videos. Private videos will also not play in the playlist unless they’ve been shared with you by the uploader.
